A history of Experiencia and Professionalism
More than three decades of showcasing Western Canada
With over 30 years as the leading Spanish-speaking tour operators in Western Canada, our team of professionals has committed to offering the highest standards of service to our adventurers. We guarantee customer satisfaction and unforgettable experiences to all who travel with us.
The Beginning
Our story begins with the vision of establishing a Spanish-speaking tour operator company in Canada. As we began learning about the tourism industry, we also reached out to and cultivated close relationships with wholesale travel agencies in Mexico.
The Adventure Begins
Taking advantage of the tourism generated by the Summer Olympic Games, we traveled to the host city Montreal, Quebec, to establish our company and promote Canada as an excellent destination for travel. During the first decade, we branded as a tour receptive operator on the East Coast; we worked with travel agencies to receive groups from Mexico and even began representing tour operators from New York and Ontario.
Our First Groups
Thanks to the promotional efforts of our team, we began to receive our first corporate incentive groups from Spain—a service which, until recently, had narrowly developed in the tourism market.
New Horizons
After establishing a solid foundation, we launched the second phase of the project: the agency was divided into two working companies, each one on opposite ends of the country. As we left the East Coast operation in the hands of trusted colleagues, we concentrated on consolidating services in British Columbia and Alberta.
Vancouver Expo 1986
The 1986 World Expo of Nations was held in Vancouver which propelled our advances as receptive tour operators in Vancouver, North Vancouver, Victoria, and Whistler. At this time, we also began offering guided tours of the Rocky Mountains, attaining regular departures during the summer season.
Growth
We set about to attract other Spanish-speaking markets, extending our promotions to Spain and South America. Once we strengthened our operation with other tourism markets, Dominion Tours was named the largest and predominant Spanish-speaking receptive on the West Coast.
New Vehicles
24-passenger and 29-passenger minibuses were added to our fleet vehicle, giving our clients a wide range of transportation options to choose from.
Presence in the Spanish-Speaking World
We make our presence in major tourism fairs around Spanish-speaking countries, including Fitur. Achieving a greater consolidation in the Spanish market allowed us to increase the number of services we offer in the Rocky Mountains.
New Services
Our business to consumer operation is set in motion and our local guided tours are now offered in both English and Spanish. As our fleet vehicles continues to increase, we begin to look for a new location to accommodate our growth.
A New Home
In 1993, we purchase a property in Burnaby, BC, and after a year of renovations, our team moves into a custom built facility that houses our offices and entire fleet vehicles, leaving room for future growth.
More Destinations
We obtain our permits to expand operations to Alaska and Washington State—specifically in Seattle and the Olympic Peninsula.
Success with Travel Incentives
We receive the first corporate incentive group of more than 1,000 passengers. With overwhelming success, we became leaders in the incentive travel industry and the most trusted DMC in all of Western Canada.
New Technology
As the tourism industry enters the world of information technology, we invest in an internal computer system tailored for our administrative and operative functions. Since then, we have been constantly innovating our system with the aim of optimizing resources and automating tasks.
Platform for Industry Professionals
A new platform is introduced through the internet so that both travel agencies and individual clientele can consult and book our services online. Clients now also have access to our travel catalogues, photographic library, and useful information on their desired destination.
COVID-19, An Uncertain Future
COVID-19 is declared a pandemic and tourism quickly becomes one of the most affected sectors. Difficult times are before us, but the Canadian government responds accordingly with measures to protect this industry, giving us the hope to survive the world event.
A New Industry
Thanks to our team’s discipline and strength, the support of Canadian government, and most importantly, the support of both our clients and collaborators, Dominion Tours manages to remain as a leader in the tourism sector and we are ready for the new world of tourism.
